Government Update External Wall Guidance

A year on from the publication of the British Standard PAS9980 relating to the provision of FRAEWs, the Government have updated their guidance on the provision of information to local fire and rescue services regarding the design and materials used in external walls.  The provision of information to local fire and rescue services is designed to help forewarn the fire and rescue service and enable them to plan for incidents accordingly.

The updated Factsheet suggests that Responsible persons who do not currently have all the information specified in the current guidance regarding their external walls should provide what information they do hold whilst they gather such information and update their fire risk assessment to include an appropriate assessment of the external walls. Once such information is available, they should provide this updated information to their local fire and rescue service as soon as possible.
